Medical Schools & Residency Programs
Understanding student loans and finances is critical for the young doctor. That’s why Physician Planning Group has created Financial Education Conversations designed for students, residents and fellows. We answer the key questions on their minds, so they are equipped to make educated decisions and take control of their finances.
Medical Schools
How we work with you:
-
Whether you are a first year medical student learning how to borrow wisely and manage money or a fourth year looking for the best way to repay student loans; guidance and education is key to making sound financial decisions.
Through our STUDENT LOAN CONVERSATION SERIES we serve as an extension of your Financial Education resources. Let us help your students and residents expand their financial literacy and learn how to establish the habits that lead to winning the financial game of life.
No matter the topic, we have the knowledge to guide medical professionals from graduation to training to career.
Student Loan Conversations:
Money Management - For Entering Medical School Students
New medical school students need to develop a plan for how they will navigate their financial life during medical school. This includes how to borrow wisely, the impact of living on borrowed money, the best types of loans to use during medical school, and how the medical school years will impact their financial health.
Repayment Strategies - For Graduating Medical School Students
As a medical grad prepares to transition to residency, some of their most significant financial decisions are centered around student loan management. They include deciding how to repay their loans and whether or not to pursue Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). We show these soon-to-be graduates their possible repayment strategies and how to determine which strategy will best support their unique financial goals in life.
How to Maximize PSLF
We've guided countless physicians toward receiving Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and we can do the same for future classes that want to utilize this program. Understanding the eligibility requirements for PSLF is only half the battle; then there is the tracking and administrative burden throughout the required 10 years. Topics addressed will be how to get and stay eligible, how to track their progress, and advice to help minimize payments and maximize the forgiven amount.
Financial Planning Fundamentals
Studies have revealed that high income does not produce financial confidence. What does build financial confidence is proactive financial habits and an understanding of financial concepts and products. We will answer questions and discuss the foundation pieces surrounding one's financial life, like budgeting and saving, insurance, retirement plans, and other necessary elements, because small things done consistently can produce extraordinary results.
All Things Credit (Scores, Cards, Identity Theft, and more)
It is possible to get excellent credit early in a career. This lecture explores everything from credit scores to credit cards to creditworthiness and everything surrounding these matters that impacts the physician's financial life. This lecture is one of the most popular because viewers leave armed with specific actions that will boost their credit score overnight and how to maintain, protect and even raise their credit score further in the future.
